Admission requirements
The candidate who wishes to follow the “Animation and Visual Effects” AEC program must have completed secondary education or training deemed equivalent. They must meet the regular admission requirements (College Education Regulations of the Ministry of Education and Higher Education).
Candidates who have completed their education outside Quebec must have an equivalent level of education.
After submitting an application for admission to Collège Salette/ESMA- École Supérieure des Métiers Artistiques, the candidate is received by an educational supervisor for an on-site interview or videoconference. This exchange helps us gauge the candidate’s motivation and creativity. The prospective student must demonstrate artistic skills and/or aspirations.
A portfolio must be presented by the candidate. The portfolio should contain 10 to 15 works (or more), mostly in traditional drawing, including:
- Observational drawings (human body, face, landscape, architecture, animals, movements/actions)
- Imaginative drawings (characters created by the candidate)
Optional :
The candidate can also add other relevant work to their portfolio that demonstrates their creativity and skills, such as digital drawings, painting, sculpture, 2D/3D animations, etc.
Admission to the AEC program
Admission to the “3D Animation & Visual Effects” AEC program follows an interview during which the student explains her/his academic and artistic background as well as her/his motivation.
To enrol in the “3D Animation Cinema & Visual Effects” AEC program, the candidate must meet the requirements of the College Education Regulations of the Ministry of Education and Higher Education.
According to these regulations, the person who is eligible for a training sanctioned by an Attestation of Collegial Studies (AEC):
- Holds a Secondary School Diploma (DES) OR a Diploma of Vocational Studies (DEP) OR training deemed sufficient by the school;
- And meets 1 of the following conditions:
- Has interrupted studies for at least 2 consecutive sessions or 1 school year;
- Is the object of an agreement between the school and an employer, or a government program;
- Has completed at least 1 year of post-secondary education over a period of 1 year or more.

Registration
Collège Salette/ESMA- École Supérieure des Métiers Artistiques accepts applications for admission throughout the year. You can begin our program in September, January or May of each year.
