Congratulations to the graduating students of 2023 !

Last week, the “3D Jury 2023” took place, an event allowing both to unveil the new films on which the graduates of the 3D animation cinema and visual effects training at ESMA Montreal have worked on for more than 6 months, but also to celebrate the end of their studies !

The movies creation process

In order to make these four films, the students, accompanied by the teachers, went through several stages:

The creation of a scenario in the course of Alexandra Dagenais, then the choice of the four final scenarios, those of Jaime Ortega, Emmanuel Guillet, Yuan Zhen Tsai and Anaïs Heidinger
Pre-production, in the course of Christine Thibodeau, with the creation of storyboards, sets and characters
Production and post-production, with the teachers Xenia Pirojenko, Kobi Kobaissi, David Décoste, Maxime Mondy, Pascal Guy and Adrien Elmlih
The partnership with the Musitechnic school, whose students did the mixing, music and sound design for the films!

SPRINKLES

With Jaime Ortega, Dean Tsitsopoulos, Isaac Healy, Saul Sanchez and Yunyang Zhang.

ABÎME

With Roxane Payment, Angélique Champagne, Emmanuel Guillet, David Mackay, Roukia Mari, Tristan Galopin and David Emmanuel Lopez.

STARCATCHER

With Ishimwe Christian, Iara Patino, Petr-Daniel Rechtacek, Daniel Rodriguez, Yeon Sang Yun and Yuan Zhen Tsai.

Once the films were finished, we invited a large number of members of 3D animation and visual effects studios so that they could discover them, ask their questions to the graduates and vote for the “jury prize 2023“.

Meeting time between the studios and the students

Once the vote was done, the juries present were able to meet the graduates individually and discover their portfolios, demoreels and other work! It was a great opportunity for our two groups to demonstrate their talent and their motivation to officially be part of the industry!

We then opened the doors of the school to welcome the relatives of the graduates, the guests, and the members of the Creative Schools who in turn were able to discover the demoreels and work of the students. We would like to thank the very many participants who came to support the two groups of graduates during this event!

After a speech by Sophie Gilbert, director of the Creative Schools (of which ESMA Montreal is a part of), we began the presentation of the four superb films made by the graduates, after which each group was able to go on stage and present themselves !

Best students awards

Before the long-awaited announcement of the “Jury Prize 2023“, ESMA Montreal wished to highlight in particular the excellent work of the two best students in our two groups who, after these two years of study, obtained the best averages general. Our partners WACOM et Annex Pro, represented by Kelly Marshall, wanted to reward these two students by offering them each a Wacom Intuos Pro tablet !

The two best students of 2023 are Emmanuel Guillet and Dean Tsitsopoulos, congratulations to the both of you !

To close this beautiful event, after having counted the votes of the jury, Sophie Gilbert finally announced the film who won the “jury prize 2023” : SPRINKLES!

Each member of the group thus received a trophy offered by the school and given in person by the teachers who followed the graduates throughout the creation process!

We would also like to congratulate all the graduates of the 2023 cohort for their incredible work over the past two years and also for their superb films which we look forward to showing you soon on our channel : Youtube ESMA Montréal !
